This years March Clinic was a complete dip into the lap of luxury of windsurfing holidays with a killer beach pad on a coconut palm fringed beach. We were a bit nervous as the trade wind fans turned off for two weeks before our clinic. The islands were enveloped in a breathless calm that makes most windsurfers fret and twitch. Luckily for us the winds turned right back on for the first day of our March Aloha Windsurfing Clinic. We all let out a big sigh of relief and jumped on the water for a full week of a windsurfing.
Besides being able to run our clinic in planing winds, the accommodations were out of this world! A gorgeous north shore house with sweeping views of the West Maui where we watched a never ending show of whales breaching. It was a mere stumble from our beds into the warm Pacific waters. After a day of being on the water there was a hot outdoor shower to rinse under or even better, a frothing hot tub to jump in. There’s nothing like falling asleep to the lapping sounds of the ocean or waking up in the morning to the sparking of the turquoise seas while we sipped our coffees. We had our own private white sand beach with 400 yards of flat water on the inside while mast high waves were peeling off the outside reefs. Our NP sail and JP-AUSTRALIA boards we rented from Neil Pryde Maui were ready and rigged in their racks just waiting to get on the water. For a couple of days Darrell Wong came and took professional photos of our clinic and guest. The following days crowds of pro-windsurfers arrived at our beach to shoot their 2014 gear. It was quite the show of talents with Bjorn, Iballa, Scotty McKercher, Philip Koster, Taty Frans and the lot pulling off all their tricks under the helicopter while we sat back on our balcony taking it the all the activities in-between sailing ourselves.
All our guest stated that this was a beyond their wildest dreams kind of windsurfing holiday. It was a perfect learning week with light planing winds that steadily got stronger as the week went on. Our guest were from all over the world, Canada, The Gorge, New York, Germany, New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
Thank you Darrell Wong for all the amazing photos!
Mahalo for all the help, personal attention and extra goodies Neil Pryde Maui provided to make sure our clinics run smoothly!
Matt Pritchard and Shawna Cropas look forward to running more clinics like this and we hope you come and join us.
